Datacenters are the backbone of effective IT operations. Managing them on a 24/7 basis is critical.

AFL provides support to different elements within a datacenter such as:

Systems and Storage Management - Includes activities that are performed to monitor and manage the server and storage infrastructure in a datacenter
Database Management - Includes providing support to different database environments such as Oracle, DB2, Sybase and SQL server
Messaging Environment Support - Includes support to applications such as Microsoft Exchange and IBM Lotus Notes

Common remote/onsite Data Center Operations

Physical access to vendors and support teams inside DC.
Media labeling
Alert Exceptions and raise Security Incident in case of any suspected security breach
Coordinating with the Datacenter Support team for Power ON-Power OFF  of the Datacenter elements
Coordinate & manage the Backup Media in terms of labeling and storing them in the designated premises
Assist in inserting the OS Media / CD / Backup Tapes while in a recovery process
For new installation of any hardware at DC, ensuring pre-requisites such as identification of proper place in rack, availability of network access & power connectivity
Application/DB shut down and restart as per SOP
Batch processing as per the checklists provided
Update Database of DR servers.

Scheduled Data Center Maintenance Tasks

Coordinate with the Customer Facilities & Admin team (for Workspace , Facilities, Power etc..) and plan for the Scheduled Downtime.
Communicate to all the respective support groups and user community on the Maintenance Activity.
Perform Shutdown and subsequent start-up of the Servers, Databases as stated in the SOP and with the presence of principal Vendors
Maintaining schedules i.e. timely cut off and handover of application to the users.

Data Center Backup and Restoration

Taking backups as per schedules, policies & SOP
Database backup for production & UAT servers
Backup of BPM servers
Backup of directories in Lotus notes email servers( Windows)
Monitoring backup failures and ensuring the rectification of the same
Conducting periodic restoration drills
